About Maybe Box

What's free, what Pro costs, what happens if we shut down, and what we do with your data.

Free and Pro

Free, forever: 5 open timers, every check-in length (7 days, or 1, 3, 6 or 12 months), and data export. No card needed.

Pro: $29/year or $4.99/month, plus tax. You get 100 open timers instead of 5. That's the only difference. It renews automatically until you cancel, which takes two taps in your account. Full refund within 14 days, no questions asked.

Why 100 timers, not unlimited?

100 open questions is the honest maximum one household can actually answer. More timers wouldn't mean more decluttering. It'd mean hundreds of photos you'll never judge.

The box is for things you're unsure about, not everything you own. The limit also keeps storage costs and spam down.

The Sunset Promise

If we ever decide to shut down, we announce it 12 months ahead. From that moment, no new purchases and no renewals. Every subscription runs out the period it has already paid for, then simply stops. Nobody is ever charged for time we will not deliver.

The longest plan is one year, so everyone gets what they paid for. And you can export everything at any time.

Your privacy, plainly

What we collect

Your email address (it's how you sign in; there's no password), the photos you take, and the name and note you can add to each one. We also log what happens in the app, like an item added or a decision made, so we can tell if the app works. The log uses ids and short facts, never your photos or anything you type.

If you snap before signing in, we hold that photo, its name and note, and the address you typed until you open the link we email to confirm it. If the link is never opened, they stay with us, tied to no account. Write to us and we'll delete them.

If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your email address and an account ID, nothing else: not your name, photo or contacts.

Where it lives

Your account, items and photos are stored on Cloudflare. Emails are sent through Resend, so Resend sees your address and the email. If you buy Pro, Lemon Squeezy is the seller of record: they run the checkout, handle tax, and appear on your card statement. We never see your card details. We only store whether you have Pro and until when.

Cookies

Our one cookie keeps you signed in. It lasts about a year, because you might not open the app for months. It holds a random token, nothing about you. No ad trackers, no third-party analytics scripts, and no tracking pixels in our emails.

The one script from someone else is Google's sign-in button, on the snap screen when you're signed out. Loading it tells Google you opened that screen, and which Google account you're signed in to there, if any. If you close its prompt, it saves a small cookie of its own here, so it waits a while before asking again.

Signing in with Google from the sign-in page adds a cookie of ours that lasts ten minutes, to check that the reply really comes from Google.

Your rights

Export everything at any time: a zip file with your photos, your items and your activity log. Delete any item at any time and its photo and name are gone for good. We keep only a note that an item was deleted, with no photo or name.

Delete your whole account at any time, and everything goes: items, photos, your email and the activity log.

Emails

We email you when a timer ends, send reminders if you haven't decided yet (once a week), send a link to confirm your address after your first snap, and send sign-in links when you ask for one. Every box-opening and reminder email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. After you unsubscribe, your items stay in the app and sign-in links still work. You can turn emails back on in your account.
